I HEAR YA!!! Some ppl DO take advantage of the system!
Example: I was Kroger store buying groceries. A woman with 5 kids pushing 4 baskets FULL OF FOOD and paid for them with stamps! A I walked out I noticed she went to a car with a man sitting in it. Doing nothing!! The VERY NEXT DAY!!! the SAME MAN walked into my place of employment and asked me to SIGN his UNEMPLOYMENT CARD. Being the supervisor and needing someone to fill a position at GOOD PAY $8.00per hr. I offered a job. And IT WAS NOT a hard job.No skills required. HE turned my offer down and said these words:>>All I WANTED YOU TO DO WAS SIGN MY CARD> I HAVE SHOW THAT I LOOKED FOR A JOB 5 TIMES A WEEK. I threw him out of the store!!!!!!

Okay this is to some of the people that has been answering this question>>>>>
1-It is our damm business because they get the damm help from our tax money.
2-There are free condoms out there, if you know you are poor use protection
3-people like that women on that newspaper raise kids with little attention and the crime rate increases
4-it doesn't have to do with christmas, what? are you people going to change your mind after december?
5-Yeah it's not the kids fault, but this question isn't asking why the kids are alive?
and to those who are hard working people and your tax money is going there
1- Most college students don't qualify for financial aid
2-you pay taxes for governmental programs that you will never qualify for
3-if society were to be a little bit cruel with those kind of people trust me they'll think twice about freaking bringing more than 7 kids into this world.

I do see your point, and while most of the time, it is a valid point, I think the point in this situation is being missed.
This woman was married with children. From the article, I'm going to assume that they were a Catholic couple which means no birth control and lots of kids.
Apparently the marriage didn't work out and she appears to be raising these eight kids by herself. How can you blame her for being in this situation? If her husband abandonded her and their children, what is she supposed to do? Give her kids up or do the best she can and provide a life for them?
I too am a single mom of three, my ex walked away a little over nine years ago and at first, I had to rely on the help of others as well as the government for a short time until I could get myself re-established. One day out of the blue, he left for work and never came back. Leaving me with nothing......
The thing that is so often misunderstood or neglected to be understood.....that not ALL women that have kids, have them just so they can be taken care of by the government. Yes, some women do do that....but not all. Had I not had the help back then, I wouldn't be where I am today and I am very grateful for the help I did receive. It was the hardest thing I had to do, walk into the government office and tell someone who didn't know me, what had just happened to me.
Its not an easy thing....being married and feeling secure one day, to being alone and scared and very UNsecure the next.....
I sincerely hope you or someone you know never has to experience this situation.......

That's so true a neighbor has 8 kids and she lends them for the income stuff, and these kids are in the need of good parents. I was a single mother for a while and I had applied for food stamps while I was looking for a while and I didn't qualified. But yet this lady next door does. What the heck you know?

I think that the gov't needs to give able bodied men and women jobs and not welfare.
Also the facts that you site are part of a bigger piture. There is alot that goes into the making of this type of people that I am about to refer to, but within the context of everything that goes on in our American society, there are just some that our system has failed and jobs would be better than handouts.
I thought they were giving the ladies jobs, but not the men. Am I wrong?

I agree with you. Not all single mothers are like this, of course, but I know quite a few women like this. I know a lady who has 6 kids by 5 different dads. She is on all kinds of government support, she doesn't have a job, and on top of that she expects her family and friends to help support her by offering a free place to live, and that they babysit her kids for free. It is like she expects everyone in the world to feel bad for her for being a single mother of six children...BUT, she had a choice in this matter...she didn't have to sleep with all kinds of guys she just met at the bar without protection... I think it should be court ordered that she gets spayed....
I am a 'poor' woman with a low paying job, and because of this I CHOOSE not to have any children at this time. I am with one man, I am on birth control, and I use protection every time.
I know some women have no choice, but it seems like a lot of them just take advantage of their situation.

They think that if they have tonnes of kids they can provide for them later in life. Even homeless people get money so that's why they do. As well in Australia there are family and children payments, so the woman gets extra money from that.

Because very few people younger than around 30 or so have been raised with any notion that there are consequences for their actions. They just do what they want with no regard for theirs or anyone elses future. They also have the idea that they are entitled to whatever they want whenever they want and somebody better see that they get it or they throw a fit like whinney babies.

I'm sure this woman didn't plan on being poor. As for the number of children she has, that was God's decision, not hers. I can almost guarantee that she would rather work and be able to give her children a nice home and life, rather than be accepting handouts from the government. But as you can see, she has her hands full and has to stay home to take care of her children. You shouldn't resent her because she accepts the help the government is offering her. Wouldn't you if you were in her shoes. (And don't say no, because you know you would)

Not in my country sweetheart. Our government only recognise people who wants to improve themselve.
Mom's that work will get all the benefits form the government not the one who don't.
