The US denies it uses torture during interogation and condems it, but these tapes prove that this is all lies.
Why?
And why does the US think it can do this, yet still act like it is fighting for freedom and is the 'good guy'?

All countries try to cover up their miss deeds as they don't look want to look like the bad guys.People aren't so naive as the would like to think, hence your question, and that's exactly what we must all do, question them continually.

Its a sad occurrence and I sympathize with the family but that is not Obama's job level. I don't want to use comparisons because this is a life we are talking about but a President makes policy and his subordinates carry out that policy. Obama has no business becoming publicly personally involved. The State Department on the other hand should take action and punish Mexico for this outrage. Behind the scenes Obama should make certain that his State Department takes some action but if he makes a public demonstration against Mexico that too sets a policy and one that is not so much in his control. Americans die overseas fairly often. It doesn't always make the news. If Obama makes sweeping and highly public acts for this family than he should for every family and frankly that could become his entire job as often as Americans get killed in another country.

It's only ever the enemy that uses torture. Your own country - no matter what country that is - would only use 'strong measures'.

I sometimes wonder if it is necessary to fight terrorism with terrorism. If you are vastly outnumbered or have inferior weapons and technology then you have to resort to underhand tactics to win. And if the enemy is using underhand tactics, then you have to somehow match that.

So, in that case, should torture really be wrong?

im glad they have the guts to do this, im not going to lose any sleep over a murderer being tortured.
wonder how all those innocent contractors felt when terrorists had them tied down on the floor unknowingly moments from death, suddenly 4 or 5 of them gripping the person, one pulls out a knife while the guy is kicking, screaming, begging for his life and the terrorists slices his throat, and proceeds to saw and saw till they decapitate him while the man gargles in his own blood and the whole time someone is videotaping it just to post on the internet.....
yea....suddenly a little torture by the cia doesnt seem that bad to me............

because it would be poltically incorrect; and some of these terrorist bastards don't talk without a little bit of helping, don't you think? Idon't personally condone it, but sometimes it may be necessary, in order to prevent more of 9/11s

I think that all countries do immoral things and try to cover them up, so they don't look bad.

Let's get things straight. America in your description is George Bush and his republican cronies. I didn't vote for that fool and I don't support torture unless it's being applied to George Bush.
