Give him a chance. Whether I like or dislike doesn't matter, he deserves a chance.

Stone is awesome.
Gene H, you might be a top contributor but you obviously have never watched a Cubs game in your life so I'll fill you in. Stone held his job for 21 seasons, most of it next to a baseball icon. He left the Cubs because the jerks on the 2004 Cubs criticized him for being critical of the team. They even went as far as to ban him and Chip Caray from the team flight and even called up to the booth during the game to complain that he wasn't cheerleading. Stone remarked how Roy Oswalt was dominating the Cubs on that particular day, which he was, and apparently some Cubs had nothing better to do during the game than watch the TV broadcast and complain. Listening to Steve Stone while growing up actually taught me a thing or two about how you play the game. Any dumb ex-player can go on TV and say "That was a tough play" or "When I played I would have made that catch." Stone would break down the play, tell you what was going on, and predict what was going to happen, everything a good color commentator should be. Stone was more than just some ex-player, he knew the game and he was articulate. Any player who wants to go into broadcasting when his career is over can learn a thing or two from Stone.
As a Cubs fan I hate to see Stone calling any games for the Sox, but who knows, maybe he'll make listening to Sox games on the radio tolerable. Wait, Ed Farmer is still there. I guess it will still be bad. But I'm sure Sox fans will enjoy it. Wait, Sox fans like Hawk Harelson so they obviously don't know what a good announcer is. Okay, then maybe Sox fans will criticize Stone and he'll come back to the Cubs when Brenly goes off to manage some team in 2009.

The Sox have 4 of the worst announcers in baseball. They added Stone for Friday nights. This will be the night go to the most games so I don't have to listen to him.
Steve Stone is brutal. He is a contributor on 670 The Score. He acts like the know it all that we all have in our lives. He thinks because he says something that it is gospel. Worse, he never answers a question directly.
I am not thrilled with this. This year the team will suck, the announcers will suck, and attendance will suck. It is going to be a long year being a Sox fan.

Welll, I watch Hawk and DJ so it doesn't affect me to much. He did say that Juan Uribe was going to be the guy that ended the game in the 13th before the inning startind. He was correct (August 8th, vs. Cleveland Indians). Can he do that for 13 games in the radio booth? Let's hope!

Now if they can just get rid of Hawk, DJ, and Singleton (keep Farmio...he is hilarious and makes for some great sound clips) the White Sox might just have a good broadcast team.

I remember Stone from the days of the legendary Harry Cary ,A young Greg Maddux and Andre Dawson. If I was a Chicago fan I would definitely welcome him to the broadcast booth.I give this move a double thumbs up.

Stone is pretty bad. I don't see what benefit this will have for Sox fans. He couldn't hold his old job?
CubsWin -- you obviously never listened to a Cubs game in your life. Stone's drone put me to sleep dozens of times. He's still an amateur. The fact that you're one of those 'Cubs are great' fans, YOUR knowledge and credibility are more in question than mine. I'll trump you. I'm NOT a Cub fan. I'm a baseball fan trapped in Cub-land.
