If we have a fair tax instead of the IRS who is going to collect, regulate, distribute, and enforce it?

Ron Paul supporters answer
There will be an IRS, but it will not be as big as they are now. When they say they want to "get rid of the IRS" it is more of a metaphor. They want to eliminate the federal income tax. We'd still have to pay Social Security and Medicare, so the IRS would still be there to regulate the income.

Wake up people Ron Paul wants to double taxyou by decreasing not aliminating the IRS as promised.

We will be paying for social security, medicare, and have a sale tax added on that will more than make up for the budget. ISN'T THAT A GREAT PLAN? This guy is slicker than Willie and I would beg voters to dig deeper and ask more questions to this candidate. I know I won't vote for him.

the only one this tax is fare to i the politicians or the gov depending on how you look at it. You dismantle the IRS and create a new agency to do there job. 30% fed sales tax, How much for state IRS and state sale tax then comes the rise in cigarette tax Lux tax and of course the death tax. because they have to fund all these fed and state agencies. And that list goes on forever social sec, DOD,DOJ,SOD,SOS. Congressional funding , education, i could go on all day and boggle all the so Ron Paul voters And he isn't even a Conservative.he is a libertarian hell whats he going to do about vets cut them.

well 100 years ago we didn't fund the arts , we didn't have over 300 million cars on the roads , space programs welfare food stamps, social security medicare, medicaid , disability, veterans administration public funding for higher education basic technology as you know it. DR Paul is nuttier than jimmy carters brother billy. so far all I've heard is a bunch of butts overloading there mouth and brains. you really don't have a clue do you? and by the way 10 years ago we were in a recession and all the Dot Com dropped out of the market and Clinton gave away our strategic fuel reserve to a company that Mr. green owned a majority of stock in that al Gore to you.. If this country doesn't have a source of revenue that support a means to defend itself. we will all cease to exist. now those are facts.

So what happened couldn't Dr. Paul get the liberitarian nomination?

This is a much-studied issue for many years. It would not be an experiment. It will mean they stop taking out a big chuck each payday. Or, you will not have to fill out all the forms and keep all those records etc. it you are self-employed. No room to explain here but research the matter and think about it. It is a good change. It is easy to understand. Unless you are a professional tax lawyer or tax accountant, you might not know how complex it really is. You will have far more control over your financial situation. If you buy a Mercedes instead of a small economy car, you will pay more tax. You can choose how much tax you want to pay. It would instantly trigger a more thrifty society. Everybody will turn into Scots, overnight (humor). And be sure the sales tax will produce enough for the government treasury. BUT voters will be closely following their expenditures from that day on.

It would be a good thing! It needs to be done. I didn't start learning about this subject today. Learn, think and consider this. It is that important. It would be reason enough to vote for Ron Paul if he proves to be committed to this quest.

Not only that but peacefully withdraw from Iraq. Decrease the regular taxes. Repay our debt. Heal our healthcare system (he's a doctor). Stop the Patriot Act. And much more. If people had researched the candidates, they would be very smart, and yes all can become smart. Ron Paul would be winning by a lot. I mean he got 16% and second place in Pennsylvania. For a guy who's never on tv, that's really good. When the media gave him HALF of the attention as others, he beat them by at least TWICE the number of fans. In my mind, he is already the winner, President Paul.

I don't think you quite understand Dr. paul's position> He does want to eliminate the IRS. He also wants to rid us of the Federal Income Tax and replace it with NOTHING. He said the fair tax would be alright if everyone wants to pay a 36% across the board sales tax, sarcastically I must explain. This once great country did not have an income tax 100 years ago, and it does not need it now.

Well, the federal reserve is a " PRIVATE CORPORATION " and is not a function of the federal government, This is the biggest misconception in this country today!!
The IRS is nothing more than a private police agency for the reserve......The congress has ABSOLUTE POWER to take over the operations of the Reserve and Print their own money.
Congress is in bed with the Fed, this is why there is no action in washington to fix the tax problems, its not in their control, its in the control of private international citizens called the central bank, and who profit by fighting in wars , supporting both sides. there is no such thing as a fair tax, its an oxymoron.
do the research..or just keeping calling everyone conspiracy theorist and do nothing.

If enough Americans wake up and realize they have been taught a lie for so long we can end this. The IRS contradicts the constitution and implies that the government owns your wages.

Instead of talking about it not happening why not encourage your fellow person to know the truth.

He said he wants to give people the ability to opt out of Social Security. Huckabee's fair tax is a scham that will save business money but cost the middle class more.

Ron Paul wants to COMPLETELY eliminate the IRS and replace it with NOTHING.

Well, the IRS, like the Federal Reserve, are an illegal monopoly. These are private organizations with no competition. The will be disposed of as soon as we all wake up to the "doublethink" they've set up.

Ron Paul is talking about shrinking the Federal Government. If that happens, there won't be much of a budget gap, now will there.

If you get rid of one tax and replace it with another, you are not being double taxed, silly. Your argument falls short.

Taxes should be collected by the individual municipalities, used and forwarded on up. Power from the bottom up is what the country was founded on.

Social security will be phased out. Medicare will be phased out. He does not support the national sales tax or fair tax. There will be no need for the IRS because there will be no income for them to collect.

Even if the federal income tax is replaced with a national sales tax, the government will need an agency to collect the tax, and that agency will be the Internal Revenue Service, or some revamped form of the agency. I have read that the sales tax might be as high as 30%. It would be interesting to see whether people would tolerate that.
