I know I am!
I had never even thought about any of these facts about birth till I became pregnant.
The more and more I researched it, I learned that I didn't want to simply go through the system. I'm 28wks and desperately want a home birth.[currently trying to get insurance to cover]
I just wondered if anyone else was excited about the new movie? I'm glad some one is putting information out about hospitals, and giving women the education to make a decision for themselves.
Ricki Lake[the producer] Will be on the Ellen show tomorrow talking about the film.

Seeing it next month.
So, anyone else excited about it? Or opinions?

I live in Las Vegas, its a bit more for a midwife here.

I guess it would have been helpful money wise if I had decided this in the beginning, NOT 28wks, so 3k quick is a little. x_x. I didn't start looking for alternatives, till I was unhappy with the fact that my insurance only has group practices, so its like I'll have no idea who is delivering my baby.

Beyond excited here. Just saw it for the 2nd time on Saturday. We are planning another screening for January 15th here in Atlanta. Good luck...Insurance will not typically cover a homebirth. The fee for homebirth is usually inexpensive enough for you to cover it out of pocket (about $2000) here in GA. Homebirth is a great choice and I am a doula who only attends homoebirths. You will certainly appreciate your decision in the end and especially when you hear people's horrible hospital birth stories. Thanks for the heads up on the Ellen show..I'll be watching

Haven't heard about the movie. But I would encourage you to strongly consider giving birth in the hospital. You can arrange to do all the same things as you would do at home you can even sometimes manage to get birthing rooms where they have showers or baths or anything else that you would want to bring.
I wanted a natural birth for my child but once i was in labor I started having bad anxiety attacks and decided that I needed to let them give me an epidural in order to relieve the stress on the baby. Also he dropped on his umbilical cord and they couldn't get him to move off it so he was loosing oxygen and i needed an emergency c section so he didn't die. If I had been at home i wouldn't have know he dropped on his umbilical cord and even if i did i might not have gotten to the hospital in time to have the c section that saved my child's life.

I can't wait, I have it on my Netflix queue waiting for it to come out.

I could not get my insurance to cover a home birth, but I found a wonderful hospital midwife who is so anti-intervention it's great!

I am preparing by taking Hypnobabies classes and reading empowering books like Ina May's books.

I cannot wait to see this movie! I did have two natural, glorious childbirth experiences. I'm proud of the choices my hubby and made as we birthed our babies.

no I am not interested in the movie or Ricki Lake for that matter, I already watched her advertisement, and I think she needs to grow up, not all doctors do c-sections for no reason, and it upsets me that she would even say that. I am not saying that there are doctors that are not like that, but she portrays any c-section as unnecessary, well because of an emergency c-section I am alive and so is my son, if it were not for that technology my son and I would probably neither on be alive. Thanks to our technology and my high risk OBGYN I am able to have happy healthy c-section babies, without risking my life or my child's!!
