A Democrat and Republican falling in love?
Now be honest here, what do you think of a romance/comedy novel of people of two different political parties actually dating? lol
The novel would be comical. Just think about it, the couple walk to work hand in hand, give each other a big passionate kiss and wish each other a good day before walking off in opposite directions of Congress, all while their fellow party members watch in "umm..okay" expressions. lol
What do you think? Would you read such a story? would a politically themed Romeo and Juliet be entertaining to you?
Just a note: No I don't actually plan to write such a story, it's just a funny idea that came to my head today lol. thought I'd hear what you had to say.

I refer you to James Carville and his wife, Mary Matlin.
Carville is an outspoken Democrat, and Matlin is an equally outspoken Republican. Somehow, they have been married for over a decade and haven't killed each other yet. It must be love. :)
Anyway, your idea of doing it as a comedy sounds lovely! It's high time people learned to laugh about politics instead of hating each other over their differences.

Mary Matalin and James Carville are living it real life. And I believe that there was also a movie with Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn that followed a similar line. What would be really funny is if the republican was Ann Coulter and the Democrat was someone like Tommy Chong - a real left wing hippie. I would love to see some hippie dude shut her mouth up.

It could be funny, but it's already happened. Mary Joe Matalin, a Republican commentator on TV is married to Democrat James Carville, who worked in the Clinton White House. Sometimes they appear on the same show to offer opposite points of view.

There is actually a true story to this from the 90's. Clinton's political strategist Carville and his current wife..sorry I can't remember the names. They may have even written a book. Both become major media commentators. Check it out. It could be a best seller.

Well, it's already happened in real life with the romance and marriage of Mary Matalin and James Carville. I think you'd have to be a very good writer to pull it off and make it humorous.

no i wouldn't read such a book but only because i don't care for books involving politics. however, an added comedic twist would be if this were to take place during a major election.

I think it might be kinda funny, just suprised that its not already on the shelves, everything else under the sun is out there. With todays society I'm sure it may have happened a time or two.

I think it's a good idea, but it might get a tad boring if it is filled with politics and debates, and such!
Hope this helped!

I think it would be funny if they were trying to hide their love because their party was trying to forbid it. Also, the political references the two might make while doing "non-political things" could be pretty comical
