I am a retired attorney, and I have used "per se" and "vis-a-vis" very occasionally in professional writing. I never use either one in daily life. People would think I'm being pretentious. Speaking Latin in daily life just begs for people to think that. Even in writing, Latin phrases should be used very sparingly.

per se more often than visa ve. I usually only tend to use the latter when doing some kind of presentation.

I have used visa ve maybe once or twice in my life - I just don't like the sound of it. Per se is used by me perhaps two or three times a month by me; however when writing analytical papers, I usually employ it once per paper.

I find that the expression "per se" comes more easily than "as such." I don't know why and don't care why. There are so many alternatives to "vis a vis" that it never occurs to me to use it.
