My teachers praised me for being a perfectionist.

My wife tells me I am a fuss pot.

Where is the line?

I supppose it depends upon who you decide holds the ground of reality - My partner has severe OCD but it doesn't bother me. I think fuss pot is rather derogatory term i fyou are not hurting anyone carry on being perfect.

If I get irritated by my partner doing something over and over I walk away to another room. It isn't my business how he wants to be. I dont think that we have the right to defien reality and boundaries for another person.

There's a difference between making sure a letter you write at work is "perfect," as opposed to not leaving the house for work until your shoes are perfectly shined. There's a difference between making sure all the plants are watered before you leave for the weekend, and using a measuring cup to do the watering. Without knowing anything about you, my guess is that your wife has a valid point.

One womans perfectionist is another womans fuss pot. I would bet that this fussiness is one of the things that attracted her to you, but now after being with you for a while it only bugs her.

When he/she has attained a position in society where he/she can get away with it without reprisal. Quit being so discriminating in the tiny, unmeaningful details of life and project an appreciation of those who put up with you.
