I have to help my sister in law with a project for her school. She is supposed to bake mimi cakes for a home-ec project. Does anyone know what the heck a mimi cake is?

If you don't know, feel free to collect 2 points.

If you are wondering why I posted this here, it is because she is in high school home ec and I figure it's something commonly made in there. And I also asked in cooking.

Maybe it was a typo, but it says it several times?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I was wondering this too! Thanks for helping to clear up the confusion. I too noticed it several times, which I thought was strange if it was just a typo...

Mimi is a term of affection often referring to a grandmother. So it could be a recipe of someone's grandmother. Or a mini-cake.

I did find several pound cake recipes referred to as Mimi cakes but once again it was Mimi's recipe for such and such pound cake.

Maybe make mini pound cakes?

Two points! Yay! Maybe it was a typo, and she meant mini cakes, as in cupcakes? I looked all over the web, and found no mention of mimi cakes.

I am sure it was a typo for MINI cake. those are just like all other cakes except they are smaller. even at the camps I have attended I have never heard of a mimi cake. you can make any kind of cake you want to, but make it in a smaller size. recently I have been baking a lot of 7-up pound cakes, one batch makes 14 MINI pound cakes. I also have pans that are specially made for this kind of baking.

edit: I Googled it, and I did not find one match... other than a company called "mimi's cakes". I don't think they exist. since on most keyboards the "n" and the "m" are right beside each other, then it is a common typo.

wabby, you have to be invited to a culinary school and win a essay contest to go to the camps I have gone too. look up the local culinary school if you want to go.
the oven at the school I wish to attend could hold over 10 people at once. it is huge, they put it in before they put on the roof, and it takes up 700 sqft.

Is a mini cake another way of saying cup cake?

Cup cakes are smaller versions of cakes, aren't they?
