What is the minimum graphics adapter that can be used by most games produced today?

Please include a desktop graphics adapter model and a minimum chipset for a laptop.

for the video, the absolute Minimum u can still buy for a reasonable price would probably be the 6800GT.

As for chipset, it's not as important, provided you can insert a decent graphics card, and enough RAM.
