OK.. so in Australia we have a welfare system.. where abandoned muthas and their children get cash from the gov't for rent assistance and ~ abandoned muttha's pensions and stuff.. and low life scum bag husbands dissapear without a trace, changing their names and holding unlisted phone numbers to avoid child support payments.

Anyway.. it's my wedding anniversary today... 21 years I am reminded.... and Donna's friend Collette is here and she tells me it is some kind of record because if I move into the spare bedroom and if Donna advises the Govt that we have separated (even disclosing that I still reside with her) her she will get some cash for that.

What do you think about that system?

Apparently I can just say it is too expensive to move out... and if I quit my job (I work from home) we all get more welfare.

Just because my and my hubby talk about divorce every time we do taxes doesn't mean that I would in anyway condone this behavior.
(Hey 6 kids and you can claim only 3 for extra tax credits...you do the math buddy)

But yeah this practice is very common in the states as well. I went through college when I was married and I could not get any assistance. I had people actually tell me to separate from my hubby. My sis lied and said she was split up so she could get money...ha ha she got busted though...
The system works to condone out of wedlock kids and single parent families. If you are married and trying to do the right thing then too bad for you.

In the USA if the husband resides in the same house the mom cannot collect welfare, unless, dad is on disability, then they might be eligible for assistance. If the husband abandons the mom and children and he cannot be found, then the mom can collect welfare assistance, food stamps, payment for going to school, there are a number of assistance out there to help single parents get on their feet. Unfortunately there are some people who abuse the system. The husband will move out and hide out for awhile until the checks start rolling in. Then he will move back into the house. It's not that great of a life though. He and the wife constantly has to be looking over their shoulder because the mom's sponsor is allowed to do unannounced house calls. If caught, both the mom and dad will be fined and can do time for welfare fraud.

Scumbag avoids child support payments.

Woman gets welfare assistance. Why is it the woman's fault that the scumbag left her in that situation? If you think a woman on welfare is living it up think again.

Sounds as bad as the system we have here in Canada. Welfare is necessary, but is far too easy to abuse.

Living here in California, I know of a retired couple who cannot get married because it would seriously reduce the amount of their benefits, so they live together unmarried.

They would like to get married, but couldn't afford the reduced income.
