aliens came to earth and lived with humans.. they had strange looking heads lol.. i think one girl alien fell in love with a human..?

It was "Alien Nation", a Sci-Fi crime drama series that followed a successful movie starring James Caan and Mandy Patinkin as cops. The TV series starred Gary Graham and Eric Pierpointe as his alien partner. The Gary Graham character fell in love with an alien woman who was, I believe, a doctor.
Some more movies were made later on due to the popularity of the TV series, but I don't think they did as well. I liked the series, and watched in faithfully, until it ended.
