My kids hated their swing when they were under 12 months. When they started walking they loved it. They still walk over and sit on theirs!!

I got a swing as a shower gift, but my daughter didn't want anything to do with it. She preferred (strongly!) to be held, so the swing was returned to the store.

Try putting your son in there after he's had a bottle or nursed....try swaddling also so he's snug as a bug. Then, he should just drift off into dreamland while swinging.
