one reason is that his plan not unlike most military strategy is to minimize american casualty. as a military man and veteran of that conflict myself i support that idea.

To understand the possibilities, it would be best to study what happened in Laos, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Angola, Mozambique, Grenada and Nicaragua after the fall of Saigon, Vietnam. Then project the possibilities for Iran, Turkey, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan and Israel.
However the logic to keeping huge bases on Islamic soil, further irritating the militants, I agree with Ron Paul, is asking for trouble.
