My first wife and her parents. My family operated like a war zone. Fights were screaming, throwing things, even threats with a butcher knife. Her family was very sweet and loving. Their fights were quiet discussions. They were very demonstrative and giving in their love. I had to learn to love like that. She and they were very patient with me while I learned. We got married right after college graduation. Unfortunately, my wife was killed by a drunk driver one year later while we were in grad school. After I remarried, her parents adopted my wife and kids and were better grandparents than their blood grandparents were.

That would be my mother. Although we have had our moments of difficulty, she is the most loving and giving person i have met. A tradition which i hope to continue when i have a family of my own.

My guy friend and his mom who I moved in with (they were the first people who I live with besides with my parents). We're still good friends even though I'm not living there anymore.
