I am a conservative and I voted for Bush, but why would anyone be surprised that a politician, of either party, would break their promises. The only way that we should be surprised is that a politician actually kept their promises and if one actually did it would be the first time that a promise was kept in my lifetime and I am 59 years old.

Perhaps you should read more. If they could have, they would have. Since the republicans think increasing the debt is always better than a tax increase of any sort, the dems had no choice if they wanted an AMT change.
BTW, I know you are not a democrat. Nice try though.

Raising taxes in an election year is not a good idea. If by some misfortune a Democrat is elected in 08 they will then believe they have a "mandate" from the people to steal even more money from the American taxpayer.

Dems caved to Bush again. You should be ashamed to be a Dem. They are just doing what they always have done. You however expected them not to lie about their objective. Shame on you. A Liberal was walking in the snow and came upon a rattlesnake. It was almost dead. The snake begged for help. The good Liberal picked the snake up and put it against his chest to warm him. When the snake was warm he bit the good hearted Liberal. The venom went quickly to the Libs big heart. His last question was why? The Rattler said You knew i was a snake when you picked me up. Moral of the story is use common sense not your heart.

The AMT would have impacted millions of Americans with modest incomes, not just wealthy people.
I am surprised that they didn't try harder to raise taxes.
I'm glad they failed to raise taxes.
No, I don't think they can be trusted to do what is right for America.

That is their promise to the country you know. They will not increase spending unless it is paid for. The republicans promise to borrow and spend and borrow and spend and borrow and spend and spend and let somebody else pay for it when they are dead. You must be old if you do not care about that?

No - all politicians lie! You'll get used to it soon enough! Most Americans, sadly, don't hold their politicians accountable, nor do they protest.....they just complain!
