having your friends and people you know make fun of you because of something you can help (like a decision you made), or having random strangers laugh at you everytime they see you because of something you can't help (like looks and such)? And maybe explain....I'd like to know what people think about this.

This is a hard one. I guess if I had to choose between the two, I would choose to have random strangers make fun of me for something I can't help.
Having a loved one make fun of you for any reason, would be longer lasting in a psychological sense. Also, your friends and family should be where you go for shelter from the world. If they were making fun of you, then they wouldn't be much of a friend.
At least with strangers, you don't have to see each of them on a daily basis and you would be able to go back to the comfort of your home.
Weather it is family or a stranger, I would make sure to let them know what a jerk they are for what they are doing. I have had to do this in the past on both sides. I figure if you can dish out the teasing, you darn well better be able to suck it up when I start dishing it out.

Random Strangers..you most likely will never see again....let them laugh all the want....I would laugh too! Learn to laugh with people..learn to not fight every struggle in your life with an iron claw.
This is life! People will laugh, there is nothing you can do about that. But, you can control your actions and stop feeling sorry for yourself! Be happy and laugh and when people laugh..laugh with them. Life is funny in general and should not be taken so serious! Good luck!

If you've got a good sense of humor and are confident, neither matters.
In my family, we've got tons of inside jokes about silly things we've all done over the years. No biggie.
So I guess strangers laughing at something I can't control would be worse to me. Then again, I don't really care what strangers think anyhow.

Definatly easier to take friends laughing at a goofy thing you've said or done. The Worst for me would be getting laughed at for something you have no control over. Plus random strangers who don't know you laughing about something you have no control over just sounds hurtful.

I think if you express an opinion seriously and sincerely, a true friend will respect you, rather than laugh at you. There will always be insecure people who make fun of others, regardless of the reason. But why waste a single precious moment of your life caring what those people think?

I would rather have people laugh at me for something I can help, just because I know I'm choosing to do it, and so if I ever want to, then I can just change it and they'll stop laughing at me. If someone makes fun of me, even if I don't know them, for something I can't help, I would feel way worse, because I would know that I can't help it and can't change it.

i think the one about not being able to change would be worse because in time the thing you did with your friends and given that they are good friends they will allow you to live it down but if they are random people it more hurtful because they don't even give you a chance and there is nothing you can do about it.

People with nothing better to do than ask dumb a s s questions.
Well quite honesetly I am sorry you are offended by my comment. If you cannot realize that anyone that laughs at or makes fun of someone else, no matter the circumstance, is in the wrong, and a bad, mean, and/or cruel person, then I don't know what to tell you.....Karma baby Karma.
And in the mean time, just learn to ignore it.

I hate to put it this way, but for me that's like comparing flavors of crap. They're both bad and I can't say which is worse. It's hard for me even to make such distinctions.
