I used OLIVE oil and then combed it through with a fine tooth comb. I didn't notice that it really worked though. Time seemed to be what took care of it.

I was told to wash my babies hair with regular dandruff shampoo, then while the soap is still in the hair use a fine tooth comb and comb the scalp to remove the scales, then rinse. Do that a couple of times a week until its gone then just use lotion on the hair after that and make sure you comb the hair and not just brush it. It has worked for my 3 children and 3 grandchildren. By the way, I was told this by a pediatric nurse.
I tried using baby oil once and my daughter was up the whole night scratching her head. She was allergic to the perfume in the baby oil. If you use oil, use mineral oil. Thats what baby oil is without the perfume.

You can use it, but it doesn't work. My baby has never had cradle cap and I've never put oil or lotion on her head. My mother used oil on my head because she wanted to prevent cradle cap, I got it severely after that and all of my hair fell out almost immediately.
If you need to use something, olive oil is an all natural choice that is really good for baby skin.

basically to offer my techniques, toddler oil did no longer artwork for my daughter. She did no longer have cradle cap too critically in spite of the shown fact that it nevertheless basically did no longer artwork. We used petroleum jelly. I located some throughout her head mutually as we've been given her waiting for a shower, washed her physique first, then went and washed her head with toddler shampoo. We weren't able to bathe each and all of the jelly out, that's high-quality. you will need it to stay a splash oily. We brushed her hair and because then (this became approximately 3 months in the past) no issues! not greater flakies or something, yay! attempt that if for some reason you have the comparable success I had with toddler oil :)

Cradle cap is not a part of any illness and does not imply that a baby is not being well cared for.Cradle cap is the normal buildup of sticky skin oils, scales, and sloughed skin cells." (WebMD) Baby oil can help but they actually have special formulated lotions and shampoos for cradle cap, you can find them in the baby section of walmart. For home treatments check out more about cradle cap on WebMD.

My daughter's pediatrician advised me not to use any oil or anything for her cradle cap. She said it usually clears up in about the same length of time whether you treat it or not, and treatments are more likely to just irritate the baby's scalp.

Mineral Oil is what I used when my baby had it. Just rub some gently on the affected area and pass a comb over it (comb it out). It should go away after a week or two. Also wash his/her hair "every other day" until gone.

I used baby oil on my daughter's head when she was like 3 weeks old. I used a fine toothed comb to gently comb it out and she did fine. She was actually half asleep when I did it. No reactions or anything. It never came back after that. Good Luck.

Put a little baby oil on scalp and rub it around not into it... then take a baby comb and go through it and it will come off. Be gentle ,don't scrape. It is safe .

i Used baby Oil, sometimes cradle cap is from soap not rinsed well off of a babiies head, or dry skin or allergy, I do not think baby oil could hurt.
