Given this system of equations, you have two unknowns (x and y) and two equations so it IS solvable.

multiply the second equation by 9. We are trying to cancel off one variable before we add the two equations together...
6x-18y=60
81x+18y=32times9

See how your y's cancel, so now vertically add the x's, and what on the right of the equal sign.
87x=348.... x=4
Now plug x=4 in either equation and solve for y

I will give you a HINT without solving for you. These are a SERIES of equations. Solve for either variable, X or Y in one equation, and substitute into the other, to solve for the other variable. Once you have both answers, check that both equations are true.

By the way, cteez's answers are BOTH wrong, because they do not satisfy either equation.
