ok so im almost posotive i have a virus on my comp even though i have mcafee and adaware it says i dont but i know i do. so i want to reformatt my laptop but i want to keep my pictures and music. will an external drive be best to transfer and clean my comp??

yes. may i suggest that when you reformat, when it asks you if you want to make a new partition you say yes. save all your data in the partition that doesnt ahve the operating system in it, thenwhen u get the virus you wont have to lose data when reformating.

Sometime the System restore will clean all the virus. Just do it first!

Control Panel->Performance and Maintenance->On the left you will see "System Restore"

Oh it should be in the Calssficated View, not Classic View!

yes your best bet is external HDD or even flash drive (for smaller data size)
and fresh installation is the BEST solution for the virus/spyware removal.

depends on how much u have, if it;s a small amount just get a flach drive, but otherwise an exernal is best.... or if u have a DVD burner, do that, most black DVD's hold 4.7 gb of space
