You can! my friend purchases acorns and peanuts, and they are around all the time! They are so accustomed to her, they don't run away when she feeds them now.

You could buy a squirrel feeder- or lay out deer corn (the hard yellow kernals) buying acorns would be be pretty expensive. They also like dog food and sunflower seeds.
To promote more squirrels you also need some tall trees for them to crawl to safety if they get scared.
Food and protection from predators are their main worries.

Several years ago, we had a bonus year in acorns. I collected them and saved them until we had too much snow for the squirrels to forage for their own food. I then put them out under two "den" trees, and the squirrels could come down the tree, and get the acorns right from the trunk of the tree. Eventually we got more snow, and they were able to dig down to the remainder.

Gee, I can't get them out of my yard!
Try feeding them. I wouldn't use acorns, but you can buy peanuts in the shell or sunflower seeds. Hang up a bird feeder, and they'll be all over it. Or you could actually buy a real squirrel feeder. You can get them at Wal-Mart or Lowes for pretty cheap.

You could. Squirrels also like field corn and sunflower seeds, which are easier to find than acorns. And tastier, too.
