Get another muffler. Your car will run better because it is designed to run optimally with the kind of muffler put on at the factory. You can buy others, but I believe stock mufflers and other parts are the best for your car.

I see several non mechanically inclined answers saying the car is simply louder. Your car is designed to operate on a specific baxkpressure and vacuum inside the engine, The muffler and catalitic converter provide a very important balance in the internal pressures of the engine which in turn allow the Emission systems to operate and provide proper fuel mixtures and timing. Replace the muffler also keep the catalytic converter if it is there or replace it also. Both are necessary for proper fuel burn.

Yes it can. Vehicles operate on a specific requirement of "back pressure" or resistance from the exhaust system. Each type of vehicle is different. Many think that any muffler can be put on any vehicle. Or than it can be operated at optimum efficiency without a muffler when it came with one originally.

need new muffler. Or have your bf or a person good with cars get under there and patch it either with tape or muffler putty to temporarily silence the nice. The dent may be leaking exhaust. The muffler takes the exhaust air and silences it. Any leak before the muffler will be ugly loud.

It's running rough or sounding rougher cause it doesn't have the muffler on to muffle the exhaust coming out. It also is hard on the car to not have the muffler on so I suggest replacing it.

A lost muffler means you have lost back preassure in the exhaust system and the engine is now running lean.

Its not running rough per se. It is however running LOUDER than before. What kind of car is it anyway? You might want to get a new muffler soon depending on your city's noise ordnance...do it before you get a ticket.
