I need to make light weight, realistic looking ax blades for not very much money. Any suggestions on what material I would use? It would be nice it they weren't bendable either. I don't want the actors or crew to accidentally whack them against something and have them bend.

Styrofoam, cardboard, or balsa wood will work for that. You'll just have to find some way to cover the surfaces on the first two. Balsa wood would be a bit pricier, but it would look better.

the person above me had some good answers. Styrofoam and cardboard would both work good. you could spray pain the cardboard. the Styrofoam i would be careful with. make sure you test it before you spray paint all of it. it may melt on you.

have fun.
