entertainers were poor and were employed to entertain the rich and the powerful; these days, entertainers are well off, they entertain the masses and employeed--not just chosen.

I don't know, but the good old days really were good weren't they. Wish it were that way now.

I think it has to do more with business. TV stations make millions from comercial advertisements and as a result entertainers are well paid.

It wasn't hundreds of years. All their wealth is very recent. Proof that the rich get richer and the dumb get dumber.
