I can spend my entire paycheck on lottery tickets(and lose my house), the state makes a killing(on legalized gambling), yet I cannot play 2-bit poker at my house without violating the law.

Before slavery was outlawed, it WAS the norm, and socially accepted. Before state-sanctioned racisim was outlawed by the Civil Rights movement, not too many people had an issue with those "Whites Only" signs.

Because the "law" gives me the right to do something, does that somehow cloud(or validate) a tough decision?

No, the law does not always validate a "moral" decision..

But your morals shouldn't be able to dictate what people do with their own body, either.

While gambling can be addictive, it is your choice to engage in that addiction and maintain it, no? As for abortion, I am not against it but not 100 percent for it all the time. A person can make a mistake and have need for it but nobody really needs more than one unless it is because of medical risks, severe disability or the result of abuse/assault.

My take on abortion;

You have the right to abstinence

you have the right to birth control

Before you start with the hate mail----

Rape,incest, and such account for 5%of abortions
poor minority women have babies, not abortions
the vast majority of abortions are performed on middle-upperclass white women who find that a baby would interfere with their lifestyle

I practice BC, if I still get pregnant, so be it...

The abortion law based on Roe vs Wade is illigitimate. It is based on the right to privacy. I defy anyone to show me the right to privacy in the constitution.

law is real (you'll go to jail if caught),
morality is relative (you can always find people who'll approve).

about gambling - yes, government does not like competition.
