need help ,1/2hp chain,push remote,to bring door up, but will then stop.also,when the door is disengaged from the door pully,the chain will not move toward the motor.need help in kansas

It's tough to say with so little detail but it could be either the travel limit set way too far forward (causing the opener to stop traveling after only a short distance) or it could be that the main drive gear in the motor is wearing out and no longer making consistent contact to operate the chain sprocket. As I said, it is tough to be sure with not much to go on - hope this helps though.

Sounds like the chain is binding along the track. How old is it? If it's 10 years old, it's probably due a replacement. Those things do not live very long. Their life is about as long as most appliances. 10 years.

Are the assist springs broken?
