I'm a little nervous. He went for his well check and he is doing well with everything else. Except rolling I put him on his belly and after about 5 min. he starts crying. He hates it. I have been trying to show him how to roll by putting him on his belly and gently pushing him. Still nothing should I be worried?

I also have a 4 1/2 month old, and he doesn't seem interested in rolling from belly to back. He did it several times in one night about a month ago, but he hasn't done it since then! He did roll from back to belly for the first time last night, so I'm not so worried about him rolling belly to back. I feel like I haven't done a great job of keeping him on his belly as much as I should, so maybe that's why he doesn't seem interested. It makes me feel better that some babies don't do this until 5 1/2 months.

Also, we try to place items to the side of him, so he kind of has to look back to look at them. Sometimes, he'll move his head so much to look at it that it almost takes him over.

My 4 month hated tummy time until about a week ago. He would scream and cry. Then, one day, he held his head up better and with my help he rolled. Now, he doesn't cry during tummy time and rolls on his own.

You're doing the right thing by putting him down and gently pushing him. I wouldn't be worried. I was, but kids just do things on their own time. My doctor said babies will start rolling between 4 and 6 months, so your baby will be just fine!! As long as he's developing normally otherwise, don't worry!

Some babies definitely do roll more than others.... My oldest son we had to really coerce him to try to roll over - and he was 7 months old! He never really got the hang of it, and didn't have a lot of interest in it. Which actually I found was good, because my second son started rolling over around 3 months old - ugh, I then had many a sleepless night because he'd flip onto his stomach, couldn't flip back, would cry, or roll into a corner, etc..... My first son was smaller than my second son too. I think every baby is just different and will do it when they're ready! Good luck!! :)

My daughter didn't roll until almost 5 1/2 months. Don't worry. Babies do things on their own time schedule. Mine hated being on her tummy too, so that had a lot to do with it. I helped her by placing a rolled receiving blanket under her chest to give her more support. That helped somewhat. Once she started rolling though, she was all over the place. And now she's crawling and pulling up on everything!

Mine did the same thing. She hated being on her stomach and WOULD NOT roll over! I worked with her every day, but nothing. Finally, when she was about 5 1/2 months she did it. About a month later, she started crawling. She's nine months as of yesterday and she has been pulling up for about a month now.
Don't worry. They all do this at their own pace.

Here's a tip. Leave the room. Then he will do it!!!

Mine didn't roll until like 5 1/2 months. She was on her back and just did it one day. She hated belly time, too. I still tried to put her on it everyday. She just got sick of being on her belly and rolled by herself. Your baby will roll eventually. No need to worry. Babies do things at different times.

Keep up with the belly time, try to do a little bit longer each time, with the push for "back to sleep" a lot of parents are afraid to put babies on their bellies and then babies do not like it. Play with him on the ground lay down there with him, talk to him, he will eventually learn to roll!

Nope, don't be worried. What you're doing is perfect. It will probably be in the next few weeks.

You can try raising one of his arms above his head and then rolling him onto that side, or setting him on a slight incline so that gravity helps move him along. That way he'll sort of get a feel for it. It's not necessary though. He'll probably be doing it on his own soon with or without help.

My guy (6 months old) also hates tummy time, and rarley rolls over. I think he's only done it twice... but he is more advanced in other ways.
Just keep giving him tummy time, and he will roll over when he's ready :))
