When you say 'The War", I am assuming you mean World War II. If that is the case, your German money is a very interesting collectible, but has long since been demonetized.

West Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutscheland) banknotes dated 1948 and later can still be redeemed.

you can't go to a bank, i don't think, i think there is a special 'bank' where you exchange money, but i can't think of what it's called.... I was in Rome and we had only 2 hours to spend looking arround, i only had american money, they wouldn't take it, so i sat in a bank, waiting in line for an hour, only to find out they dont' exchange money, so we went across the street, and it took 30 seconds for the other 'bank' to exchange it! That wasn't fun! Sorry i couldn't help more.

you may substitute you funds over on the airport. I even have arrived at that airport at each and every form of circumstances for the time of the night and characteristic continually discovered the financial organisation funds changers open. utilising an ATM works too! Have some small costs available to pay to your taxi holiday. (Oh yeah, even at 0400 in the morning there became a place open to alter your Thai baht over.) P.S. the fee you get on the airport would be with reference to the comparable you get on the city! The costs are set on an conventional basis, each and each financial organisation in Thailand might have with reference to the comparable fee for that comparable DAY! the place you will possibly generally get a lesser fee is from a inn or from a save! once you evaluate costs from banks you need to evaluate the fee you get from a financial organisation for that distinctive day. simply by fact the fee alterations daily, the next day may be a splash greater or a splash decrease - yet generally no longer by lots! good success.
