Actually, its then your ex best mate and your ex wife. No its not an excuse for GBH or anything else.
(You're bringing race into it, I don't think it would count as unprovoked, maybe unjustified depending on...)
The hard thing to take is it takes two to tango and you can't make someone love you. I
wouldn't blame him; your wife on the other hand was supposed to be in a committed relationship with you.

how the hell do you work out its an unprovoked racial attack,if you just found him in bed with your wife,of course its provoked,still gbh but with mittigating circumstances,dont matter if hes black white pink or sky blue with spots on!! ps and i got the tee shirt with two of my ex wives being found in bed with a black and white,the outcome was the same.SMACK!!!!!!
