well it's nice to hear what they do to give back to the community and maybe if they are doing okay not hurt or dead or anything like that.
other than that everything else is none of my business

for the most part, assuming it doesnt effect his job performance, i dont think that anybody should care about what anybody does outside of work, that goes for athletes, cops, judges, politicians, even fast food employees
you want to smoke pot, or host an orgy? or whatever, it doesnt matter, what a person does in their time, its their decision, the only time that anybody else has any right to have any say in what a person does is if it has effects on others, like a guy with a drinking problem who always comes to work hung over

I could care less about Curtis Granderson's relationships.
EDIT:
I think that the media should leave our fav. baseball players alone, most of us don't care who Magglio is dating or something. Now, on the other hand, if they commit a crime or are having drug/alcohol/steroid problems, then we deserve to know.
And, why, you may ask, do we deserve to know?
Because we depend on these people. To go out there, strike out guys, hit home runs, make diving catches, but above all, be good role models.

What people like Jeter do in their time is their business. If Jeter wants to date Mariah Carey again for example (Even though that would be a stupid mistake on his part.) that's his business. Who cares who he dates? Only people who are star struck cares about stuff like that.

I would only care if it were illegal or very immoral and plastered all over the news, I want role models to at least follow the law, or keep a low profile if they are messing up too bad.

I don't see where the out-of-baseball life even during the season matters at all..
many of these guys have press agents and staffs..that their agents work for publicity..like Brittany Spears thrives off of..
people like that bother me..Curt Schilling is one of those guys..he has to run his mouth like T.O. every time there is something topical in the news..so he can flaunt his celebrity

Sometimes it is interesting, but I am not overly infatuated with knowing everything about them. I live near Jim Thome's hometown, so whenever I go near there I keep an eye out for him. My friend's dad saw him at a restaurant there, so I always think about going, but never do.

I pick my favorite players very carefully. They are upstanding citizens, pillars of the community and do a lot of charity work. Never will you see them on the Police Blotter or in the National Enquirer!
Lessons to learned by the younger fans...

To some extent yes, but for the most part no.
Like Alyssa Milano, she needs to stay away from Russell Martin (or any Dodger for that matter). But thats about as far as it goes for me.
