I dont want to go through the embarassment of dressing up and looking stupid if I am going to be laid off in the week following... so... should I ask them if I can be at the top of the list of those being considered for after holiday jobs, or should I just quit?

You should do it ! I think you get a raise for doing something like that... put aside your negativity and enjoy this. can you imagine what that would look like on your next application... good standings there.

Plus, think of all the kids that you will be making happy with smiles... some of those kids probably don't get to get gifts and maybe ' santa 'is all they have...

Plus, you might see some young hot mama's ..... that's beside the point but
I think you should laugh it up and have fun !

Take it from someone who has played Santa often. It can be one of the best experiences in your life. For one thing, no one will know it's you. Something happens when you put on that outfit. People start treating you like you really are Santa. That's a good thing. You can quit if you want-but you'll be missing out on something really great.

If you were not told this was going to be part of your job at the time you were hired, and if you didn't dign anything that stated this was a possibility, then you really have no legal obligation to do this. So if you really don't want to, then tell them you don't want to! I am sure you could find another seasonal job if you wanted, but if you talk to your boss about it and explain how you feel you may not need to!

I have never in my LIFE seen someone laugh at santa. NEVER! It's just unheard of! So dress up, get out there, and make some little children happy! Anyways, all santas look the same, how could someone tell it was ytou? Also, santas not stupid:P:P

People might laugh, who cares. It's not like you actually look like yourself. I'd just put it on if I needed the money, if I didn't, I'd probably just put it on for fun.

ITS A TRAP, DON'T FALL FOR IT!
DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO NOT EXPERIENCE THE EMBARRASEMENT. BUT TRY NOT TO QUIT.
