Too bad, because the golden age of metal and punk WAS the 80's (and much better than most of the ones now, although that's started to change).

Your loss!!!!

wolfmother is a horrible band first off, cause they replicate classic rock

Metal:
Between the Buried and Me
Bring Me the Horizon
Job for a Cowboy
Lamb of God (first three albums)

Hardcore (derived from punk "core"):
Poison the Well
August Burns Red

Rock:
Coheed & Cambria (the singing is hard to get used to)
Elliott Smith (acoustic)
Flyleaf
Modest Mouse
Queens of the Stone Age
Third Eye Blind

Punk:
Blink 182
Goldfinger (ska/punk)
Reggie and the Full Effect
