I have a 5 gallon jug that's almost filled up.....pennies, dimes, nickels, quarters....Haven't figured out the best way to get cash and was just curious if anyone has ever filled one up with random pocket change and how much they had. I know it depends entirely on the number of quarters, dimes etc.......just curious about a general area

well you could have a few grand in the jar which is real great but on the flip side is is real dumb -- even in a pass book savings account it would have been working for you == the secret of easy living (money wise) is to make your money work as hard for you as do to earn the money!!!

I have a 5 gallon jar that I dump loose change into, but I've never filled. The last time I emptied it, it was about 1/4 full and I had more than $600.

I try not to let it get too full... if it's in the jar, it's not earning interest.

It doesn't matter how much anyone else saved up. If you had the container entirely filled with quarters instead of pennies, obviously you are going to have a lot more money.

I think saving coins in big containers is pretty gimmicky... just get a small dish to put your change in, and whenever it gets pretty full roll them up and take them to the bank.

It depends on what most of what is in there is. I put my pennies in a different container, and only silver in the arrowhead water containers, and last time I got about $500
