I need to mount a toy for my horse in his stall, but I don't want to drill holes in his shelter because it's not my shelter and he moves around from paddock to paddock. Will epoxy putty be strong enough to hold it up? Can I remove epoxy putty from wood if I need to?

Epoxy is stronger than wood. If you try to remove the item you will end up taking some wood with it, maybe a big chunk. If you use epoxy you will end up doing more damage when you remove it than a few srews would do.

no need to figure out how to clip it on, or hang it on the stall,
