I know like Interesting shifting to intresting is just a lazy speech shift, but is Wednesday the same? Because Wed-nes-day almost sounds impractical, unless "dn" makes some odd sound that ties wed-nes without eliminating it like in wens-day.

Any help?

I think it was more like Woden's Day, then I presume it went to wed-nes-day and now wens-day.

I had a teacher in high school (math I think) who insisted on pronouncing it like wed-ens-day.

It used to be pronounced that way ... long long time ago. There are tons of words in English like that.

In my State ... Connecticut, it looks like it should be pronounced connect i cut. It's pronounced con net i cut. BTW, it means land between 2 rivers in Mohegan (Native American).

Thought you’d find this interesting…

Welcome to Bawstin (Boston)

For those of you who have never been to "Bawstin", this is a good guideline. I hope you will consider coming to "Beantown" in the near future. For those who call New England home, this is just plain great!

South Boston is Southie. The South End is the South End.
