Planted by the Clinton campaign, and then a lazy mass media ran with it.
You don't expect our television stations and newspapers to actually check facts do you?
Politicians plant stories in news outlets all the time, usually to cover up the fact their expense accounts are at outrageous levels, and you're paying more tax each year while they dine at the public trough, conservative and liberal alike.

All three plus more. The Hillary camp is promoting it at the moment as evidenced by the comments of Bob Kerry at Hiilary's recent campaign event. She came out afterwards and said that she endorses his remarks meaning that she is in on it too.
It wil come out again and again as time goes on.
The joke is that many muslims DESPISE Obama because he chose NOT to follow the faith of his hfather and grandfather whom he never even knew. The MUSLIMS don't even say that he is a muslim and right here in Chicago there have been protests by muslims against Obama because of his stance on foreign policy relating to Pakistan. His declaration that he would pursue terrorists into Pakistan even without Pakistani permission was seen by them as part of a war against Islam.
The fact that he goes to my father's church is enough proof that this is a lie for me.
These attacks/lies llok like desparation to me. Obama's rock star like popularity and the huge crowds he draws, combined with him drawing even or ahead of Hillary clinton in Iowa New Hampshire and South Carolina polls is scaring the heck out of the establishment who never thought that a Black(mixed race really) candidate from Illinois could raise such a fuss or seriously pose a challenge to establishment candidates.
He has been so honest about past mistakes and made such an effot to be transparent that the on;ly thing they have left to do is to attack him on what he said in kindergarten, accuse him of getting high (which he not only admitted BEFORE they brought it up but applies to Bill Clinton, who lied about it, and G W Bush as well) as a teenager and making up lies about him being a muslim.
I hope the general public is savvy enough to see through tbnis nonsense whether they vote for Obama or not.

Hillary's camp. They didn't even give white supremacists or FOX News the time to jump on this propaganda, which is totally false, by the way. Her campaign pretty much admitted it and scapegoated a couple of kids to make room for more who will continue the same dirty tricks campaign against her opponents.

From having a name Barack Obama, at some point he would have to answer the question "where do you get a name Barrack Obama" if he said nothing, people in New York might understand people in Iowa likely would not.

An 11 year old using his mom's computer put it on MySpace and then Rush Limbaugh and Fox News ran with the story as FACT!

His father grew up in a nominally Muslim environment, although by all accounts he was really an atheist or agnostic. Obama attended a primarily Muslim school for awhile.
But I think it really boils down to the fact that his name sounds faintly like "Osama" and a lot of people are idiots.

HIs name is "Obama". Sorry, but that ain't Patrick, Paul or Michael. His name seems Islamic to the average American. You don't have to be Karl Rove to make political hay out of that.

Who cares? I don't think about religion too much except in regard to the RRR's (Religious, Right wing, Republicans). It probably originated from them anyway. Best not to dwell on the crap spewing from their mouths.
