I am looking for a laptop which has 2048MB RAM, 160+GB HDD capacity and a nice processor.
It will be used to complete work, will require Wi-fi, 3+ USB ports, a long-lasting battery, should be lightweight and portable (easy to carry).
I refuse to buy a laptop from Dell.

I should also mention that I will not be using this for high end games, that it will be used as a replacement for my powerful desktop PC when I am on the move.
I want a laptop with Windows XP/(preferably Vista).

Stick one in here 'cos I repair a lot of the buggers. I see someone has already recommended a Sony Evil. Hmmm.
Why do you need a laptop? This is the first question you must ask.
How much do you want to spend?
The "light and easy to carry", bits of work are usually crap. If you want a functional item get a Panasonic Toughbook. If you want a fashion accessory, get a Sony.

Buy mine...
THE SONY VGN-N38Z/W
It's got a massive memory, is light, equipped with WI-FI and has a huge RAM. But is ONLY COMES WITH 2 USB ports! Still 4 out of 5 ain't bad!
I agree, I wouldn't touch Dell with a bargepole! They should re-label them DELL-BOY laptops!
I wouldn't buy anything unless it was Sony! Also buy from somewhere that offers a long gaurantee! Don't buy from PC World or Currys, they are useless!

I customized it for you, I choose a 12 cell battery. since you want portability I choose the 14.1 inch screen, which is only 5.2 lbs.
It has a descent Intel core2 duo @1.67 speed, but if you want it faster you can choose the 2.00gigs that will be an extra $ 75.
Good luck.

If you have problems with the HP page just choose in note books the 14.1 inch screen and customize it you self it's going to be about $1000
with the Intel Core2duo 1.67

www.ebuyer.co.uk
have a look there and the reviews =)
BUT if your gonna use it for high end games (call of duty 4 etc) , get a desktop.. the amount of questions on here asking if you can change the graphics card on a laptop is silly.
