A lot depends on the college and the background of the individual. Some discover that they are no longer a big frog in a small pond. If the individual isn't mature enough to adapt to being just another freshman, the first year can be traumatic emotionally. Then, there's the crush of carrying a full load of college credits. Freedom of choice can be a two edged sword if you can't resist the temptation of play over hard work, you'll find that no one cares if you fail.

yes I changed a lot. I became older, wiser, and a lot more educated. My essentials didn't change, nor did my personality. I just acquired a bit more self-knowledge and a bit more life experience. it also helps when you know what you want to major in. it really helps to define the person. if you don't change even a little bit while in college, then you were seriously missing out.
people will change and grow. don't expect your friends and your relationships with each other to stay the same, either. it is a hard but extremely rewarding time.

Yes ,I learned that I was not academically prepared for college, nor did I have any real idea what I wanted to do in life.It was a harsh realization to find that an open mind and critical thought were not enough to earn a living. You actually have to choose a major and work for grades.
Never had a chance!!!!!

A lot of things were changed. Things were not the same in high school and in college life. We tend to become more mature with more focus on achieving our goals in life such as earning degrees for better job positions with better pay.
