When you're in love with someone, you feel like you become one with them. When you hear the song, you put yourself in that situation emotionally and feel that emptiness from someone you love dying, never to be seen again. If you are going to learn the song to perform it, perform it while it still hurts. The best performances are those that make the audience feel the same way you and the song feel.

To me its the way the music is played, and I close my eyes when I hear the song and I think of all the women, men and small children and crew members and the captain who all pershied on the Titanic, and i put myself in their place and I feel the way they felt.I would learn the song and remember it and keep it close to my heart, and if you cry while singing it then you've done the song well, and all the ones who have died will be blessed.

well if you have seen the movie it takes on the emotion of the movie which is lost love which is very sad and relatiable for most of us. but as a song by it's own i think it is the tune's instruments such as the violin is a soulful sad sounding instrument. that is why there is a saying when your whining that the smallest violin is playing just for you.

I usually just hold it in.. But it just depends on the Movie itself. Like "the green mile" Sad music and the ending is sad... Not to mention the instuments and the melody make it sad also..

Maybe because it's true to life.
When someone you love dies, your "heart will go on" even if that person is gone.
