I am not sure anymore because I used to work at Macy's and around the holidays they would have signs up or have employees say "Happy Holidays" to the customers. I worked in customer service and I would get at least 2 calls a day from customers complaining and even threatening saying they will never shop at Macy's again just because they used the term "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". I found that really strange. To me Happy Holidays sounds just as good because Christmas is included as a Holiday.

There are other holidays that are celebrated at this time of the year, so if I don't know the person I will say Happy Holidays. If it's someone I know who celebrates Christmas, I say Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas unless I am celebrating a different holiday such as Thanksgiving, then *might* say Happy Holiday!

I always say "Merry Christmas" simply because the holiday is called Christmas, and I do have the religious beliefs.

Heck I believe in Merry Christmas and Jesus so I just say Merry Christmas. If they don't like it they can just deal with it.
