Same thing I told "the other guy".

LOVE IT! Many times - in Europe and here, by European men. It's actually a sign of respect in my culture. We have a saying - sarut mana- which literally means - kiss your hand. We say this to our moms and older women when we are kids. Men also say the same to women. It's a sign of respect and good up bringing.

I'm a hopeless romantic.

yes. funny u bring this up. Recently i was in a hand-shaking situation; lots of introductions etc. I noticed that some men have the ickiest limp feeling handshake. i commented that i would rather have my hand kissed by the unmanly shakers than shake another wet noodle.

i have had my hand kissed upon a social introduction, and i found it pleasantly surprising and chivalrous. It probably helped that the gentleman in question was attractive. lol

Yes. I have close friends in both Italy and France. Older gentlemen will usually take your hand and kiss it upon a proper introduction. Once you get to know them more, they will give you a bise (kiss on each cheek) upon greetings/goodbyes.

Just once...I was at a 50th birthday party & a gentleman friend of my aunties had been obseving me most of the night. As I was leaving at the end of the night & saying my goodbyes,I reached out my hand to shake his & to say it was nice to meet him & instead of the shake,he kissed it & said the pleasure was all his.! He was a pure gentleman.
