yes, i loved that show. the wimpy doctor was my favorite. i even have it on dvd.

The interesting thing is that it started as a very serious series - the pilot movie (which became the first 5-6 episodes) were very well done - only later did space cowboys and talking/walking carrots come along.
CBS turned down STAR TREK because they already had LOST IN SPACE.
But I loved it.

Yup. It was released before Star Trek in the early-mid sixties along with Time Tunnel and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Campy but memorable. Dr Smith and his crackpot, crooked schemes and Robbie the robot. When Star-Trek first came out in '66, I thought it was just a take-off of LIS.

My brother remembers wacthing it on its first run as a kid, back when it was black and white, and it scared him. But he watched it anyway. Then when they started shooting in color, they got all goofy with the talking carrots (in that episode, the actor who played Don West turns his head and covers his mouth to keep from laughing). But we loved it as kids, silly or not.
