I was cooking pulled pork in the crock pot in coca cola. It spilled over and into the metal part that actually heats the bowl that holds the food. It is now all burned on the metal part...how can I get it clean...the crock pot is my mother in laws and she will kill me if I give it back to her that way!!!

First try making a paste of baking soda and scrubbing it with a scrunge made for teflon. Sometimes the baking soda is just enough abrasiveness to remove the burnt on food without scratching the surface. If that doesn't work, barkeeper's friend will or at least it did on mine. (the inside of mine is aluminum, so you can't use any cleanser that has bleach in it or it will permanently pit and tarnish it).

After you remove the roast, fill the crock pot with warm water and a small amount of a mild detergent. Let it sit for a few hours. Some gentle scrubbing should be all that is required to get it clean. Also, you can put the crock portion in the dishwasher and use the pot scrubber setting. That generally will clean it very well.

Will the burned-on part hold water? I so, fill it up with water until the burned on part is submerged and let it sit overnight. Then use a green scrubbie pad to remove it. If it's brushed aluminum, make sure you scrub in the direction of the current brush pattern.

If you can't submerge the burned on part, place a rag soaked in water on the spot (fold it a couple times) and leave it sit there overnight to moisten the spot. Sprinkle more water on the rag to keep it moist. Then hit it with the scrubbie, as long as it's not a surface that will be damaged (scratched) by the scrubbie.

If you think the surface might be damaged by the scrubbie, use a wet terry cloth rag to scrub the burned on stuff.

If you take a little baking soda and add water (just enough to make it like toohpaste}, then dab with moist dish cloth on spot that is burned, let set a few minutes, then rinse with a wet cloth, making sure not to get any electrical parts wet.
This should make it good as new!

I did the same thing not long ago.I took paper towels, wet them and then wrang them out so just damp.I then laid them out over all the burnt spots and let them sit about an hour.Using the same paper towels wipe out the burnt gunk.It took a couple of of tries(repeat same process)but it actually worked.

I find the best way to clean it is when it is still hot. Just use your damp rag on the slowcooker once it starts cooling down.
