Actually Red-Nosed Reindeer have always been around. This feature occurs only in male deer and in roughly .001% of the male reindeer population. For a reindeer to have a red nose requires that both parents carry the gene. Scientists are not sure what natural selection was behind the red nose, though some surmise that at one time most male reindeer had red noses, probably to attract the females. However it would be a strong negative to have a shiny nose a night when predators were about so the red-nosed population was eventually reduced to small proportions by natural selection.

you answer this question. When is the last time you seen a big red guy in a big red sleigh with a bunch of reindeer attacted to it flying through the air or landed on someones roof. If you answer my question you should also answer your question. If not just think about it a while.

i think it signifies him being mentally challenged. after all none of the other reindeer would play with him and would even call him names! so santa make him feel better ny making up the excuse of him being special with his nose... you no the rest
