I personaly do!!! It goes against all of Pittsburgh's tradition. No mascots, no flash uniforms, no cheerleaders, thats the way football should be played. (OK, i wouldn't mind the cheerleaders quite as much). Plus he just looks stupid. And he has a dumb name! If I got to name I would call him Steely Dan (after owner Dan Rooney). Anyone else agree with me?
P.S They don't even have him at the games...i think 'cuz they're afraid someone will beat him up!

It's a terrible mascot. But it;s a great porn star name. I mean Steely McBeam c'mon didn't they put that in front of any kind of focus group

Yep.
Apparently so do most of the Steelers fans.
They did a poll on the Pittsburgh TV stations newscast shortly after he was unveiled.
Something like 80% of the people said they didn't like him.
This was all brought about as a part of the Steelers 75th anniversary. Hopefully they'll get the hint and get rid of him!
Steelers football is NOT about mascots and cheerleaders!

I thought you were kidding at first until I looked up a picture of Steely McBeam.
If Cowher were still coach, it would be at least amusing.
As it was the winner after 70,000 votes for names, I'll acknowledge that it's clever enough, but McCHEESY.
But, let's face it all mascots are pretty cheesy. They would be better off without a gimmick...
It's not like the kids are going to gravitate to him.

*in seriousness...I may have to hate the steelers on principle...but I have always respected the way the Rooney family ran the team......and I think the Steely does indeed fly in the face of what Steelers smashmouth football is about. But it does give great fodder for picking on you guys! So lighten up..it's all in fun....but I'd be willing to bet Stteely doesn't return next season.

I am a Steelers fan and I agree, i like the fact we stick to No gimmicks. I only have seen him once and he freaks me out just like the King on the Burger King commercials. I wish the team would smear him.
