i have. at a workshop at school. we had to have one of the kids in drafting help us design it, then we built it in shop. it didn't really cost that much. you just need some expensive woods

You can buy kits for $170 or so, but if you want a decent guitar, you're spending $500 or more. Keep in mind that some woods are illegal to buy (endangered), so if you have some of that sitting around, and make a guitar out of it, it can be worth some dough - and sound good, too!

They are too expensive, if you are a beginner. It is cheaper to just buy one. If you have the money and want to make a good guitar, go to Carvin.com for guitar parts.

A good place to start is www.grizzly.com- they sell inexpensive kits. The fret slots are cut, etc. all you really have to do is sand, paint, put it all together and play.
Martin sells some pretty good acoustic kits, but I wouldn't try those for the first attempt.
