Those SAT scores are really low for an ivy league... And I mean, it wouldn't be much of a problem if your GPA was a little higher. They look at your application as a whole, not concentrate on one thing, but you really don't have anything that makes you stand out. If you're looking to stay in Texas, apply to Rice. SMU is definitely within your grasp. Also, I'll suggest this forum for you since it helped me a lot: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ Maybe someone there can give you more advice?

You have a good chance, so try it! You take a lot of extra curriculars and yet still have a strong GPA, they love that. My friend did not get accepted to those schools but had the same GPA. The reason why she didn't get accepted is most likely because she wasn't involved in activities. However, being a MA resident myself, I would strongly consider BU if I were you instead of BC. I would visit the campus if you are accepted there, it's a great school and a lovely town. I wish I went to Boston! Hampshire college in Amherst? I would say you have a pretty strong chance, however I personally would not go there, it's very small and secluded. Smith College, Amherst College, and Mount Holyoke are probably better choices in the same area, although Amherst College is the 2nd most expensive school in America and they do not accept financial aid! Tufts is very difficult to get into. I'm not sure about Hofstra. Other good schools are UConn, UMass Amherst, Brown, Clark University and Northeastern University. Research them, I think you have a good solid chance in these. Good luck.

I don't think Yale would be an option...if those are the SAT scores you're planning on getting, they're pretty low...Yale usually accepts SATs of 2100 as a minimum. Ivies say they'll accept a GPA as low as 3.5...but the truth is they won't accept that unless you're a real superstar, an incredible talent. A 4.0 would be ideal. A 3.7 is risky.
Your extracurriculars are pretty good, but they won't help your application a lot more than anyone else's.
Rice (in Texas) is a great school, but I think you probably wouldn't get in.
In Texas, look at schools like SMU or U Texas Austin. Outside of Texas, you could look at Emerson (in Boston) and Boston University; NYU (definitely a reach)...

if you are looking to stay in Texas then look at Rice for a high end university. Baylor is a good school and if you are looking for a Christian university (even though you didn't say what type of church you are involved in) it is a baptist school. TCU and ACU are Christian schools, but smaller towns. Rice is in Houston and Baylor is in Waco so you're close to several of the larger towns. Your grades should be good enough for any school you want to go to if you have the money or apply for the scholarships in enough time.

If you want Ivy League in Texas, why not consider Rice University? Competitive enrollment and a very quality education.
