My wife told me she would "make herself available to me" everyday single day if I stopped smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol. She said the deal is off the second I smoke or take a drink, do you think this is fair? What do you think of this? Would you do it? Could you do it?

FYI: part of new years resolution is to get healthier and she knows this will highly motivate me!

Hey man she wants to grow old with you! You should be flatered that your wife loves you that much! I would do it if it ment my baby would be healthier! I think its a great incentive!

I think its a good bargan.

Fair? No. Because cigarettes are addictive and you can't just say "Oh ok, I'm done smoking." She's obviously trying to help you get past these things but maybe you should try and curve the deal. Tell her if she keeps her side of the agreement you will make an honest effort to quit smoking but you can't do it in one day. Set a time limit, if you having quit by the deadline then the deal should be off.

As for the drinking... do you have a drinking problem? Do you have to quit completely or can you have a social drink here and there? If you have a drinking problem that causes issues then maybe you should let off, but I don't see why it should be the case of you not being able to have one beer now and then.

Best of luck!

Yes why not? I think its a perfectly fun way 2 become healthier, perhaps ur wife is just trying to motivate you in the only way she thinks will motivate you, personally i think u should strive 2 give up smoking at least so why not hav fun doing it perhaps your wife is looking for some more fun 2! Enjoy it and all the best giving up!

So what happens if she fails on her part? If it does what both of you hope then go for it by all means. Getting a healthier life ad having fun doing it, nota bad deal. Good luck and Happy Holidays

If you cant make the commitment to quit then don't make the deal...it sounds fair, i mean...giving up two things that are very bad for something that can open up a whole new type of fun with your wife.....sounds pretty good to me...what better incentive.

I would not make any kind of deal with anybody over anything that dealt with myself, as an individual. You run your own show, but I do think she is trying to help you, it is just a little strange the way she is going about it. Do it because you love yourself, and her---not on some "deal."

no I would not make this deal. yes I want my husband healthy but with holding sex from him is not going to help get him healthy. it is your decision to be healthy and you need to do it for yourself and how can your wife feel good about herself when she knows you are only giving up smoking to have sex with her. why don't you give up smoking and drinking & start eating right and exercising and get your wife involved and then maybe you will both feel better about yourselves.

Start smoking crack everyday. Then she will have sex everyday to get you to start smoking only cigarettes and drinking again.

Sounds fair to me. You won't stink like crap and you will have more energy for sex after you stop smoking.

Drinking is a depressant. You will be more in the mood after you stop drinking.
