I charge it when I'm asleep, that is, about 8 hours. My cellphone and laptop just need less than an hour for them to be charged completely.

umm it usually says in the mannual that if you overcharge the batteries that they will lose some of their battery life

I don't have a laptop but I leave my phone charger hooked up all night and I haven't had any problems. When my battery is completely charged, it stops charging automatically. Same with all the other phones I've had and the batteries have always lasted a really long time.

Chargers should have built in cut-offs. If not Lithium batteries would literally explode. Check out some lithium battery explosions on youtube.

depends, what type of battery it is . In most cases nothing badwill happens except ur wasting electricity

No - they automatically stop charging when they are done.

You are wasting power though!
