This question is sort of a way for Me to acknowledge the fact that although I am squarely with Zeppelin. They were more of a studio band and in concert the Who were, by all accounts phenomenal
So who put on the best shows ever do You think?
Out of all the concerts I have attended I have to give it to Pink Floyd and Rush
But it's Your opinion I want, who gives the best concerts ever?

Aw man, you're making me have a flashback . . . last time I saw Zep was in Detroit, and they blew everyone away. I saw the Who with Keith Moon intact, but they seemed, well, predictable. With Floyd and Rush, it's always going to be a semi van count-off; both bands use so many for their respective stage productions. My personal vote goes to Jimi Hendrix. I saw him three times, and each time the myth of the man had grown. In concert he didn't disappoint, either. It was like watching a demi-god; you were never sure what was going to occur, but you knew you were going to be awed. Watching Hendrix in concert was just as much about voodoo as it was about rock.

Darth, I was talking to my dad this afternoon. He was telling me that he saw Pink Floyd around 1974 ~ on the DSotM tour.

It was the era of the 'three-day-week'. Power was constantly cut off from one part of the country, to provide energy to another part.
He was sitting in the 'circle' of this former theatre, waiting for the show. They announced that the band had their own generator, so not to worry about power cuts. The theatre went dark. Four small pin-pricks of light could be seen moving forward across the stage. The band were wearing miners helmets!
Then, there was a sudden 'Kerching!'. The opening song was 'Money', and there were speakers set up behind the audience where he was sitting, which gave the effect of being *inside* the till!
He says it was one of the *best* concerts he's ever been to!

He saw Deep Purple not long after ~ they were even *louder*, and he couldn't hear properly for three days afterwards!

I cant speak for Led Zep, the who or pink floyd because i never saw them. I started going to concerts in the 80's and Rush and Iron Maiden have given me the best concerts I have ever seen.

Pink Floyd All I have seen was the videos but I would give my left testicle to see them live.
Motley Crue put on one hell of a show and so did Van Halen (with David Lee Roth)
Honestly though I would have to say the best show I have ever seen was Firehouse in the Red Rocks Ampitheatre
Greatful Dead in Eugene Oregon was great but I am not sure if it was all the acid I took

Believe it or not but the best concert I have ever seen was Foghat! Great Music, Great stage show, Great musicians, Great singing, etc. No other artist I've ever seen compared to the energy and fun I had at their concert in the 70's.

Metallica was a close second.

AC/DC comes in third.

Of the ones I had the fortune to see live

PINK FLOYD
GENESIS
SUPERTRAMP

but the one that surprised me the most : The Rolling Stones. What Jagger did here in Mexico City at 2500 m, not so long ago, what a display of physical fitness... he ran around the enormous stage with such ease, like a teenager. They all performed as if it were the very first tour, the very first audience. They came to win the audience. That I call passion and ambition for music.

Finally - An easy question!!
- My favorite band has always been Genesis and they are great in-concert - BUT
- In 1976 - The Who gave the greatest performance by far -- it was in a class by itself and I could never even question it against another band's performance.
- Now for 2nd best concert -- That's a HARD question,

Pink Floyd for me too. I can't even count how many times I saw them. My first concert of theirs that I saw was for Animals.
